Terms of Service
Last updated: September 12, 2026
These terms govern your use of the chords.live iPad app and the associated cloud service (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
Accounts
You need an account to sync content across iPads and to share sets with a band. You’re responsible for keeping the email address associated with your account current and for anything done under it. Sign in uses email verification codes or Apple / Google sign-in — we never store your password because there isn’t one.
Free tier and Pro subscription
chords.live is free to use with up to 20 songs. A Pro subscription unlocks up to 1,000 songs and is billed by Apple:
- Monthly: $4.99 / month
- Annual: $39.99 / year
Prices are as listed in the App Store at the time of purchase and may change with notice. Billing, renewal, and refunds are handled by Apple under the standard App Store terms; manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current period; access continues until then.
Your content
You own the songs, sets, MIDI configurations, and audio/PDF files you add to chords.live. You’re responsible for having the rights to use whatever you upload — don’t upload material you don’t own or have permission to use.
You grant us the limited technical rights necessary to store, back up, and display your content within the Service, and to share it with band members you invite. We do not use your content to train models, sell to third parties, or display publicly.
Band sharing
You can share sets with band members you invite. Shared songs remain owned by you and count against your quota, not theirs. You can revoke share access at any time from the band settings.
Acceptable use
Don’t use the Service to:
- Upload content you don’t have the rights to.
- Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service.
- Share account credentials with people who aren’t you.
- Impersonate someone else or misrepresent your identity.
- Distribute malware or use the Service for illegal activity.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Service availability
We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Sync and share features require an internet connection; performance features (viewing your own library, playing your own audio, MIDI, Band Sync over local Wi-Fi) work offline.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time by emailing us. On deletion, your content is removed from active systems; backups may retain copies for up to 30 days before rolling off.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose (including any specific performance scenario).
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, chords.live’s total liability arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50 if you’re on the free tier.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
